This 20th century carved wooden carousel horse is an extravagant piece of horse sculpture. He wears the elaborate trappings that were a hallmark of the Baroque horses in the Royal Courts of Europe. The dramatic pose, extravagant gold-leafed mane, baby, winged dragon behind the saddle, exquisite bridle flowers and unique trappings set this figure apart as a real work of art. Trying to turn a pig's ear into a silk purse! If anyone is interested in taking this otherwise very nice Spanish Gomez saddle and try to do something with it, you are very welcome - I paid $700 for it. I unwittingly bought this saddle from a sketchy lady in CA and when it arrived, it was actually in two pieces and the underside canvas was actually torn, the padding taken out and the tree has had some very weird things done to it! So, it's taking up space in my studio and it's far too nice to throw away.
