The ERAHC Virginia Classic

Championship Show

Aug 23-27, 2023

ERAHC will be hosting two separate Dressage Shows on August 23rd and 24th.  This is open to all breeds.  This is a sanctioned and licensed show and a great opportunity to gain qualifying scores.  This has become a popular show due to the relaxed atmosphere and how well it's run.  It's one not to be missed.

For the first time ERAHC will be hosting a one day Educational Symposium on August 25th.  We have lined up Felicitas von Neumann-Cosel, Tina Vedar and Bruno Gonzalez of Baroque Equestrian Games, Carlos Carneiro (W.E.) and Howard & Erica Peet. This is a unique opportunity to learn from leading experts in their field!

This event is not to be missed!

Take all the knowledge you gained from the Educational Symposium and show it off at the Breed Show!  The breed show is open to all pure bred Spanish horses, Lusitanos, and Part Breds.  Its a great event to connect with fellow Breed owners and fans of this beautiful breed.

Carlos Carneiro

Carlos Carneiro, who grew up immersed in the horse culture of his native Portugal, has been the head trainer at Sierra Nevada Lusitanos in Napa, California since 2011.

He has had the amazing opportunity of studying with two of the world’s greatest classical dressage masters: Luis Valenca and Joao Oliveira, the son of the revered Nuno Oliveira. Carlos is adept at progressing young horses through the training levels with classical exactitude. The ultimate goal, of course, is to have a happy, light in the hand, eager to please, healthy horse. Carlos achieves this multi-faceted goal by paying particular attention to every training detail from exercises promoting flexibility and strengthening to those oriented towards cadence and self-carriage.

Carlos teaches clinics in Portugal, Germany, Austria and the United States. He is an exceptional instructor, skilled in getting the best results from the rider and horse. In Portugal, Carlos has participated in numerous exhibitions showcasing classical dressage in the traditional Portuguese tack and attire. Here in the United States, he was honored to perform an exhibition at the World Cup for Grand Prix Jumping in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Carlos has earned numerous awards within the Working Equitation discipline, including winning top honors in 2015 at the Andalusian World Cup competition in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he competed at the Intermediate Level, and earning the overall highest score at the Santa Barbara, California 'Skill of the Rancho' Working Equitation competition. In 2014, Carlos took home

National Championships in the Advanced and Intermediate Levels at both of the Haras Cup and IALHA competitions in Texas.
